Brosville Fire & Rescue has been proudly serving the Brosville Community and surrounding areas of Pittsylvania County since 1961. We are committed to providing the upmost care and fire services. This means equipping our volunteers with state-of-the-art equipment and training in order to keep our community safe.
Our volunteer Firefighters and EMTs are at the heart beat of our organization and spend countless hours dedicated time away from their families to serve the community.
Brosville Fire & Rescue provides mutual aid fire & rescue services to surrounding Fire/Rescue agencies including but not limited to Bachelors Hall, Cascade, Mount Cross, Riverbend, and Tunstall.
Brosville Community Volunteer Fire Department was originally chartered as Bachelors Hall Fire Department in 1961 with 90 members providing protection to Bachelors Hall, Brosville, Mount Cross, Tunstall and Westover communities. Kermit Law served as our first Chief, along with Tommy Thompson serving as Department Major. In 1962 we became part of the charter under Tunstall District Volunteer Fire Department.
With the amount of calls for service increasing. Members of our department built three Fire Stations. One in Westover (Now the City of Danville's Fire Station 6), Brosville, and Tunstall. We only had 6 trucks to serve all three communities. Volunteers manned phones in their homes to respond to emergencies. The stations eventually separated to provide better service to the community and we remain in the original station 2 on 58 West.
On January 26, 2012 our 2008 International Crash Truck caught fire while in our building. The fire damaged 2 trucks and the building, totaling 1 million dollars in damage. It took approximately one year for clean-up and remodeling to be completed. We often used the terms, "Bruised, but Not Broken." We continued to provide emergency services to our community during that difficult time.
Today, Brosville Fire & Rescue , continues to provide emergency services to our community. We are home to 9 response apparatus, with over 40 dedicated volunteers. Each year we answer over 600 calls for service. We look forward to the future and continuing to serve our community.
Brosville Fire & Rescue provides fire prevention training programs to our area schools & daycares.
